Used Car Buying Myths and Tips

Buying a used car is sometimes a big chore. Unless you are familiar with what to look for when you go out and begin your search there is probably some pang of fear in that you will get ripped off, or pluck a lemon from the lot. Nothing like something simple such as picking out your bathroom lights, buying a used car is often frustrating, or just plain irritating.

Early Birds to NADA Expo Get Used Car Sales Insight at Friday, February 8 Seminar, 1:30 p.m. at San Francisco Hilton.

One of the myths that was released early is that Car buyers always know what they want to buy before they start looking for a new or used car.

In fact, 37% of used-car buyers originally planned to purchase a new car but were persuaded during their search process to purchase a used vehicle, according to Northwood University Automotive Marketing Chair Joe Lescota. And according to AutoTrader.com data, 64% of AutoTrader.com customers search "All" vehicles vs. selecting "New" or "Used" only, meaning a majority of buyers are open to either a new or used car if the car fits their other search criteria. more

2008 Detroit Auto Show: 'Did You Know that Cars Are the Most Recycled Product in America?'

Just getting back from Branson Missouri and settling in Detroit once again it is time to talk ab it about the Detroit Auto Show. One of the more interesting articles I have seen out there so far was this one about Automobile Recycling. It states that the most recycled product in America is the car.

The VRP Automotive Recycling Exhibit centers on the theme of "Did you know?" From that theme, scientists and engineers from Chrysler LLC, Ford Motor Company and General Motors Corporation -- which comprise the VRP -- are delivering an impressive environmental message that is based on 16 years of collaborative efforts to increase the recyclability of automobiles and reduce their impact on the environment.

2008 Volvo S80 Review

I tried to take a pic of one of these the other day, but my digital camera battery was dead for some odd reason. This car is pretty kick ass if I do say so myself.

If you're looking at the 2008 Volvo S80, you're probably a little more wrapped up in practical considerations than most luxury sedan buyers. The midsize S80, you see, can be equipped with all manner of leading-edge safety equipment, everything from dual-chamber side airbags to a security system with a heartbeat sensor. It can illuminate warning lights when another motorist enters your blind spot or sound an audible call-to-action if it senses you're about to rear-end the car in front of you. In short, the Volvo S80 has your back. It is undoubtedly one of the safest cars on the market -- and likely among the most morally virtuous as well. full review

Car Donations to Make Educational Videos

Saw something kind of interesting the other day that is a little twist on the whole car donation thing. Car Angel is a non-profit company that uses car and other donations to make videos for kids and teens. Apparently they have given away over 2.4 million of these videos already.

To see what kind of videos they are creating take a look at their Youtube page for a bit of a sneak preview before you run off and start donating cars.

2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid Review

Been a while since I posted anything about a hybrid. Saw a few hybrid reviews up on Auto channel so I figured I'd introduce the 2008 Camry Hybrid to send you in the right direction if you are looking at one this year. After visiting with my grandmother who has fibromyalgia this holliday I was kind of on the subject so I figured I'd look into it a bit. She was talking about purchasing this very car so I thought I would check out a Camry Hybrid review.

Other than better fuel economy, people buy hybrids for a number of reasons. Reducing carbon dioxide emissions is one, and reducing America's dependence on imported oil is another. A third (and less valid) one is that morally superior feeling one gets from owning a car with a hybrid badge. But up to this point, buying a hybrid for financial reasons has been a questionable decision. Quite simply, the price premium for all that high-tech equipment would take years to recoup through fuel savings (and even government tax rebates). The 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid could change that.
