Here we go. The list of all the Toyotas and Lexus' vehicles that are apparently under recall. This is the latest list as of Friday, February 19, 2010. In addition to the recall lists for the two brands, Toyota also released a video on Emergency Stopping Procedures due to a sticky pedal. Man...that is some heavy stuff to release this kind of thing isn't it?
To find out if your vehicle has been recalled check Official Toyota Recall Site. It lists all the versions of their cars that are currently under recall, as well as more information about what they are going to do about it, as well as what you need to do. Vehicles not involved may also be viewed as well as a search function that allows you to check you car based on your VIN Number. The VIN Number Search page can be located here.
Here is a quick list of the Toyotas that are being recalled as of now:
* 2005-2010 Avalon
* 2010 Prius
* 2007-2010 Camry
* 2009-2010 RAV4
* 2009-2010 Corolla

The Lexus page is far less involved, but this is the Official Lexus Recall Info site. The only vehicle on the front page there is the Lexus 2010 HS 250h, which is a voluntary recall, but it is encouraged that you do it as it involves reports of inconsistent breaking in their vehicles.

80.7 MPG For Volkswagon Polo BlueMotion
Theoretically the new Volkswagon Polo BlueMotion could travel up to 800 miles on one tank of diesel. Polo BlueMotion is available to order from Volkswagen Retailers today, with prices starting at £14,445 RRP on the road for the three-door, and £15,045 for the five-door model.
The new Polo BlueMotion adopts an all-new highly advanced 1.2-litre TDI three-cylinder common rail diesel engine developing 75 PS, and 133 lbs ft (180 Nm) of torque available from just 2,000 rpm. This new engine, combined with longer gearing through the five-speed manual gearbox, regenerative braking and an automatic Start/Stop system, help the new Polo BlueMotion emit just 91 g/km of CO2 while returning an impressive 80.7 mpg on the combined cycle.
It features high comfort levels with AC, power steering, cruise control, and seats that probably won't cause a need for hemorrhoids treatment.
The VW Polo is available for order now, and is expected to be at retailers sometime in May of this year.

Ethanol? Best Future Economic Opportunity For America?
Reports from 2009 suggest that ethanol and ethanol production continue to become a major economic strength for the U.S. Besides the health drug industry and that colon cleansing pill you just bought, there aren't a heck of a lot of bright spots in the current economy. Ethanol seems to be one of them, however.
“The Economic Contribution of the Ethanol Industry to the Economy of the United States,” according to economist John Urbanchuk is doing just fine. Below he deatils some of the major findings of his research into the industry fro 2009. (A PDF document contains the entire study here. Obviously you will need a PDF reader like Adobe.)
• The increase in economic activity resulting from ongoing production, construction of new capacity, and R&D supported nearly 400,000 jobs in all sectors of the economy during 2009.
• The economic activities of the ethanol industry put an additional $16 billion into the pockets of American consumers in 2009.
• The full impact of the spending for annual operations, ethanol transportation, capital spending for new plants under construction, and R&D spending added $53.3 billion to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2009.
• The production of 10.6 billion gallons of ethanol means that the U.S. needed to import 364 million fewer barrels of oil in 2009 to manufacture gasoline, or roughly the equivalent of five percent of total U.S. crude oil imports. The value of the crude oil displaced by ethanol amounted to $21.3 billion in 2009.
“Despite the well documented economic concerns of the ethanol industry in 2009, producers across the nation remain a critical economic engine in rural America,” said Renewable Fuels Association President Bob Dinneen. “Unlike other sectors of the economy, this industry added production, helped Americans keep their jobs, and continued to provide an unparalleled value-added market for farmers across the country.”

Attorney Calls For More Toyota Recalls: 2002-2006 Camrys
Oh boy...Toyota is just in a disaster of a year aren't they? I can't turn on the news without hearing about hos Toyota is killing people with their cars. Good thing I don't own, or never have owned a Toyota I suppose at this rate. I can worry about more important things like acne treatment gel. AT first I thought it was a bit overblown, but it is really in overdrive in the media now. Everyday there is something new.
An addendum to the earlier Toyota Sudden Unintended Acceleration report shows that NHTSA allegedly excluded eight early reports of deaths linked to Toyota SUA from its official complaints, crash, injury and death counts.
The omission occurred during the first two years of the NHTSA's probe into the matter, which may have affected the recall remedy and scope of future recalls, downplaying the urgency and intensity of the situation. The new information would bring the official number of deaths related to Toyota SUA to 42.
"It is important to note that each of these eight deaths was reported to NHTSA and for whatever reason ignored," said Beasley Allen attorney Graham Esdale, who has taken the lead on these Toyota sudden unintended acceleration cases for the firm. Esdale believes the number of unreported deaths could be even higher. "It appears SRS only chose the most verifiable reports of death to include in its addendum, but Beasley Allen also is continuing to search for other deaths that are verifiable from sources other than NHTSA. Common sense would lead one to believe there are many more," he said.
"Another very important point about the eight deaths is that all involved 2002-2004 year model Camry vehicles," Esdale said. "This is important because the 2002-2006 year model Camrys have been completely ignored by Toyota in its recalls. A previously released Beasley Allen statistical analysis of NHTSA complaints shows these year model vehicles experience sudden unintended acceleration more frequently than do the recalled models. This is yet more evidence of Toyota not being forthcoming with consumers and NHTSA about the source of the problem with these vehicles," he said.

80% Say Buy American In Wake of Toyota Fiasco
IT is no surprise that many are saying they will buy American cars now after all the news about the Toyota recalls lately. Pretty interesting development after the complete FAIL of the U.S. auto industry the last decade isn't it? Even more interesting is that every media outlet in the U.S. has covered the Toyota failure to death.
Oh what? You think all these things are a coincidence? Maybe they are. Maybe they aren't. They are what you would call lucky for U.S. car makers though would you not? This is quite the injection of prenatal vitamins into the rebirth of the American auto industry I would say. Hey...I'm just making an observation here is all.
In a recent survey 80 percent of car buyers say they'd consider buying a Ford, Chrysler or GM brand on the heels of the Toyota crisis. An overwhelming 48 percent said Chevrolet tops their list to replace Toyota for their next vehicle purchase, with 17 percent choosing Ford and 14 percent choosing Chrysler.
What's more, 51 percent of the respondents indicated Toyota's issues have changed their perception of the brand, leading them to eliminate Toyota as a consideration for their next vehicle purchase. 33 percent said they may still consider Toyota if they decide to delay their vehicle purchase and 16 percent said they would still consider buying a Toyota, confident in the fact that the automaker will successfully resolve its issues.
"This data provides some interesting perspective about the mindset of U.S. car shoppers," said Joe Kyriakoza, Vice President of Strategic Insights at Jumpstart Automotive Group. "It's almost as if they've been waiting for a reason to support the domestic auto brands. We believe Toyota's current position has opened up new sales opportunities for brands like Chevy and Ford."

$20 Million Incentive Money For Heavy Duty Hybrids Available This Week
You may say Climate Change is Schmilate Schmange (Yeah i really said that.), but if you want some free incentives in California to buy a hybrid they are dishing it out. Enough to save for a Samsung HDTV? Easily.
A ground-breaking California project designed to stimulate the purchase and use of medium- and heavy-duty hybrid trucks and buses has opened for business today at the website “CaliforniaHVIP.org.”
The Hybrid Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Program (HVIP) was created by the California Air Resources Board (ARB) to help California truck and bus buyers to buy these advanced, low-emission vehicles by providing vouchers to directly reduce their cost. HVIP provides buyers with purchase vouchers ranging from $10,000 to $45,000 per eligible vehicle. However, vouchers are only available on a first-come, first-served basis and buyers (fleets) are limited to no more than 100 vouchers each.
CALSTART, the clean transportation organization, is administering the HVIP program for ARB and operates the “CaliforniaHVIP.org” website to support fleet, dealer and manufacturer involvement in the program. All voucher applications are made online by truck dealers working with a truck buyer.
