France had been in poor health for much of the last decade -- he was diagnosed with cancer in 1999. Although he was in remission, the extensive treatments took a toll. Former NASCAR Chairman Bill France Jr. Dies
This is a very long article and I really couldn't do it much justice if I were to rehash it. The AP reported that Bill France Jr., who transformed NASCAR from a small Southern sport into a billion-dollar conglomerate during his 31 years as chairman, died Monday at the age of 74. Heard about this ont he radio when I was looking at some Las Vegas Real Estate so i wanted to get it up here.
