Applying for Credit Cards

When you go to apply for a credit card you are always drawn in by low interest rates. The Mint card is no different. It has a low introductory rate, but also has just lowered their APR as well.

-0% on purchases until 1 January 2008
-0% on balance transfers until 1 August 2008 (2.5% balance transfer fee)
-0% bonus offer until 1 April 2009 on balances transferred during October 2008 (2.5% fee)

The Mint+ card also gives you one of the best opportunities to get huge discounts on various products and services throughout the year. All year long the company will provide you with various opportunities to get the best deals around for your favorite retailers. Past deals have included huge savings on Easter Eggs from Chocolate Express, London breaks and West End shows as well as high street retailer discounts.

Subscribe to More Blogs and Get More Readers

I guess we are doing a bit of a test to see if we can get more RSS Feed Subscribers so this list is going to help us do that. More subscribers=more reders=more traffic. This blog was added courtesy of Jimi Morrisons Head. I'm adding a few to it myself so we shall see how well it does.

***Start Copying Here***

1. Create a post and link back to the person that put you on the list in the first paragraph with a brief thank you and description of why people want to use the campaign. DO NOT copy their paragraph. Write your own unique one and link to their site.

2. Copy the ENTIRE list of Feeds and create an OPML File to import into your feed readers so that you can subscribe to all of the blogs on the list. You will want to read my post entitled Mass RSS Feed Subscribing with an OPML so you understand how to do it. (You will want to copy this link over to your post so those you add know how to do this too.)

3. Copy the ENTIRE list of Feeds AND blogs and put them into your post like they are here. Move the "My Adds" from the blog that added you into the "Originals" lists for each. This list is unique because I want you to be able to copy the feeds with out having to delete the blogs before making the OPML file so I separated the two links into 2 lists.

4. Add any blogs you want to the list with whatever keywords you want. Then get their RSS Feed and add those to the list of Feeds in your "My Adds" section.

5. Publish your post.

6. Comment on the post that originated the list here so that new additions can be subscribed to as well by the lists before yours.

Motor Insurance

Auto insurance is one of those things most people take for granted, and just buy whatever they can find at the cheapest rate with out knowing any of the extras they can get for the same price. When you apply for motor insurance online you may get a few quotes and just pull the one with the lowest price to you, but the link provided has some extra incentives for good drivers. First it gives youa 10% discount right away just for applying online, but a very interesting add on here is that they offer a "No Claims Discount". The No Claims Discount can save drivers up to 67% off their insurance rates. 70% if you are over 50. This is based on the number of years you have gone with out making a claim to your auto insurance carrier. For those that don't drive like a race car driver this is the type of discount you can really benefit from. Check it out.

Alcohol-Related Traffic Deaths Highest in 15 Years

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) has been asking for Congress to Hold Immediate Hearings to Address Proven Solutions and for Mandatory Alcohol Ignition Interlocks for All Convicted Drunk Drivers. According to the article, drunk driving accidents are at a 15 year high. Makes it pretty important to get your faith ducks in a row, eh? Never know when you will run a crossed one of these killers on the road. Speaking of that, check out these first communion gifts too.

This article is promoting ignition interlocks pretty hard. What are your feelings on interlocks for convicted drunk drivers? What about having them as a standard feature for all vehicles regardless of conviction record?

California's Clean Car Program Would Cut Pollution, Save Drivers Money

A market-based incentive program to reduce global warming emissions from new cars and trucks would cut pollution as much as 33 percent and provide up to $2,500 in lifetime fuel savings for drivers, according to a new study by the University of Michigan's Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI).

The Clean Car Discount program creates a schedule of fees and rebates, collectively known as "feebates," based on the amount of global warming pollution different new vehicles produce.

"Our analysis shows that by harnessing the power of price signals, feebates spur consumers to purchase and manufacturers to produce cleaner vehicles," said Walter McManus, director of UMTRI's Automotive Analysis Division. Read more

China's cars to reach U.S. gradually

Ma Xiuhong said China's automakers are too busy producing automobiles for their own residents to think about doing a ton of export work at this time. She says that their automakers just don't have the best of relationships here yet to even get that kind of export business up and running.

This was after meeting with Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick recently. Can anyone blame them for not wanting to make any statements about dealing with the U.S. after talkking to Kwame? This guy is a disgrace to Detroit. QUIT VOTING FOR HIM!

"I don't think it is the right time to export a lot of cars into the United States from China," Ma said. "The Chinese auto market is the fastest-growing market in the world. I believe for some period of time, Chinese automakers will be preoccupied with this."

Customizable European License Plates

One of the major industries that deals with automobiles is the accessories. There is always something that can add to the beauty, functionality, or convenience of an automobile. Making a vehicle look the part of where it came from can be achieved very simply if you have an Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW or Volkswagen. Getting a customizable european license plate gives the exact look that these cars deserve and at a reasonable price. Here's a visual example of this here:

GM sets fuel-cell SUVs on the road

Yesterday General Motors tested their Sequel SUV fuel-cell vehicles by driving them 300 miles on one tank of hydrogen on public roads. They believe that the test was a world record for the hydrogen fuel cells.

"This is a very significant event to us," said Larry Burns, vice president of research, development and planning. "Our goal was to go 300 miles because that is what our customers tell us they need. This is a vehicle that can carry four or five passengers, but this is also a vehicle that emits just water. ... We are in the infancy of a whole new automobile."

They picked New York because they have been the most critical of GM's fuel-efficiency in their fleet of heavy trucks.

Drug and Alcohol Rehab in Michigan

With the way the job security for UAW members is falling apart due to idiots running their companies it could be concluded that our fine men and women of who build our automobiles may be a little depressed and getting themselves into serious addiction. Michigan is one of the best drunk states in the Union so I'm never against promoting a local drug rehab facility for anyone who is just losing control.

I've had my share of addiction and I have kicked the old drinkin' habit, but there was one thing I always disliked when I was rehabbing: "Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him." Never got past that step which is Step 3 of the 12 Step program of Alcoholics Anonymous if you don't know them by heart.

Stonehawk takes a different approach with their treatment programs:

The New Life Detoxification program uses vitamins, minerals, exercise, and sweating to rid the body of drug residues. Drug residue within the body triggers cravings and withdrawal symptoms. The sauna detox program at Stone Hawk lessens the body’s cravings, helps manage withdrawal symptoms, and clears the student’s head in order to best take advantage of the life skills courses.

Besides the detox they teach you as a student and help you create your own program. You aren't bound by 12 simple steps and they claim that their program is so effective (76% success rate) that the need for ongoing meetings has been eliminated.

Stonehawk is located in Battle Creek, Michigan and they can be contacted through the link I provided, or by calling: Toll Free 1-888-227-9193. Local Telephone: 269-963-2827.

Obama talks of hybrids, but his ride has a Hemi

Sen. Barack Obama was in Detroit yesterday speaking to local automakers about the importance of building fuel-efficient hybrids. He said that automakers were making too many big vehicles and not enough fuel-efficient hybrids. Come to find out he drives a V8 Hemi-powered Chrysler 300C. The height of hypocrisy just keeps getting better as election time rolls on. It makes you wonder who the hell is actually writing these speeches and coming up with the "issues" that a man like this is getting behind.

Obama gets the "Do what I say, not as i do" Award for this week. Congratulations Obama.

911 Turbo Flips Its Lid

Porsche's new 911 Turbo Cabriolet will go on sale this September for $136,500, the German sportscar company said today.

The new 2008 model will sport a 480-horsepower, 3.6-liter flat six with turbocharging and 460 pound-feet of torque. Smooth turbo power arrives through unique variable turbo-vane technology, the company promises. And a special Sport Chrono package will drive torque to 505 lb-ft in overboost mode.

All told, the new Turbo Cabrio will execute 0-60 mph runs in 3.8 seconds when manual-equipped; a Tiptronic version drops that time to 3.5 seconds. Both automatic and manual Turbo Cabrios will be capable of 193 mph at the top end.

Among other less readily observed details, Porsche says the new car's weight is only 154 pounds above the standard Turbo Coupe, thanks to lightweight materials. The convertible top will raise or lower itself in 20 seconds and can be deployed at speed of up to 30 mph.

McLaren Convertible Bows, From $700K

Almost three months ago TheCarConnection.com first revealed how a roadster version of the Mercedes McLaren SLR would be unveiled this summer. And here are the first official pictures of one of the world's fastest drop-tops.

Much of the newcomer is shared with its coupe sibling; it will be made from carbon-fiber reinforced plastic and under the long bonnet will be the same 626-hp V-8 from tuning arm AMG. Coupled to AMG's Speedshift R five-speed automatic transmission, the Roadster will hit 62 mph from a standing start in 3.8 seconds. Top speed will be 207 mph.
